📢 We are excited to present the latest publication from our Institute for Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering! 🚚 ✨ As part of the ELISA project, Regina Linke, Özgür Öztürk PhD, and Eva Kassens-Noor have authored an insightful article titled "Analysis of Technical and Operational Requirements of Alternative Drive Systems by Transport Companies: The Case of the Overhead Contact Line Truck."💡 📚 The article explores the technical and operational success factors and barriers that influence the adoption of the eHighway system by freight transport companies 🚍 🔍Their findings indicate that transport companies face no major restrictions concerning the technical equipment of overhead contact line trucks. Furthermore, there were no operational restrictions in using these trucks, and they can be integrated into various transport operations. 📖 Check out the research findings and discover how innovative drive systems could shape the future of freight transport at the journal "Sustainability" via bit.ly/4b5E2UQ. #electricroadsystems #eHighway #sustainability #alternativedrivesystems #freighttransport #openaccess

📢 New Publication! Happy to announce one of the first outcomes of our European Research Council (ERC)-funded urban scAInce project: seesus, has been published by the Journal of Open Source Software 🎉 This open-source tool is designed to evaluate whether a textual expression aligns with the concept of sustainability as defined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. 🔍 About seesus: seesus is not just another classifier; it's the first Python tool that labels a statement with the 17 SDGs and 169 specific targets and categorizes it into social, environmental, or economic sustainability. Plus, it uses a regular expression matching approach, allowing users to understand and adjust the classification logic to their specific needs. 🌱 Why it matters: It addresses a critical gap in sustainability research and policy analysis by providing a reliable method to align texts with SDGs, helping identify key focus areas for sustainable development strategies. 🔗 Explore the tool: GitHub - bit.ly/44bKirh 📚 Read the paper: JOSS - bit.ly/3Q467TV Congrats to Meng Cai Yingjie Li Dirk Colbry Veronica Frans and Yuqian Zhang! 👏 #sustainability #SDGs #opensource #europeanresearch #ERC #researchexcellence #collaboration

✨ Exciting New Research Alert! 🚗 🌏 We're thrilled to announce the latest collaborative research by our institute's head, Eva Kassens-Noor, in partnership with esteemed researchers from Michigan State University: Zeenat Kotval-K ,Shruti Powers (Khandelwal), Ph.D, Tongbin Qu and Mark Wilson. ☀ Their publication, titled "Are New Campus Mobility Trends Causing Health Concerns?" questioning whether more accessible and affordable transportation options will shift transportation choices of campus patrons, given that free-fare buses and e-scooters are available. Also, would this change in transport mode and behavior affect the health of the users. 🚍🛴 🚎 The study surveyed campus’s students and staffs, their preferred transportation modes, from non-motorized transportation; walking and biking to motorized transportation; ride-hails service, buses, and e-scooter. BMI of the survey participants are measured to explore possible relationships between choice of transportation and overall health of the individuals. 📋🚶♂️🚲 💡The research found that availability of accessible and affordable motorized transportation options tends to prompt a shift among non-motorized users towards motorized modes. Additionally, they found that motorized transportation users exhibit higher average BMI scores compared to their non-motorized counterparts. At the same time, survey result suggests association of participant’s BMI with other factors; age, gender, race, academic level, and residence (on/off campus). 📊 🏢 🔍Find out more about the research NOW at bit.ly/3JazTlU And tell us about your thoughts! 👀 Happy reading! 📖
